Longhand Note of President Harry S. Truman, December 5, 1952. President's Secretary's Files - Longhand Notes.

Dec. 5, 1952

Last night we had a formal dinner for all the members of the Cabinet, their wives and former Cabinet members. I asked all the aides, Military, Naval and Air to be present, as well as the regular White House aides.

It was a grand affair. I told those present how I appreciated the advise, help and assistance I'd received from all of them and that if I'd had any success as the President of the United States, the greatest office in the history of the world, they had made it possible. The Chief Justice responded in a wonderful tribute to me.
