Longhand Note of President Harry S. Truman, August 26, 1952. President's Secretary's Files - Longhand Notes.

August 26 '52

Talked Margie Sunday at Oslo. It must have been after midnight there because it was after seven o'clock E.D.T. here. Called her mother as soon as her call ended.

She and Mrs. Horton (Drucie) had been to Sweden and Finland. The Swedish sensational papers attacked her S.S. men-without cause. The "free press" in Sweden seems to be just as discourteous, irresponsible and untruthful as our own publisher controlled "free press".

They had a grand time in Sweden and in Finland. On the return to Sweden from Finland the boat was three hours late arriving at the Swedish capital and they missed the train for Oslo. Cars were provided and safely arrived in Oslo.

Today they take a through sleeper to Paris by way of Copenhagen, Hamburg, Brenan, Cologne, Liege, arriving in Paris at 10:15 A.M. Thursday, Aug. 28. Leave Paris at 4:30 on special fast train and board S.S. United States at 7:30 P.M. at La Havre. N. Y. Tuesday, Sept 2-and will I be glad!
