ACHESON

Harriman is still doing a great job in Iran but the situation is not in the bag.

Sept 15 or 17 there will be a meeting of the North Atlantic Pact Council in Ottawa.

India and Pakistan are on tend-(t)-erhooks. Forces on border are activated and we may have a break out in armed conflict, and the possibility of a religious war thru out the Middle East with millions murdered.

LOVETT

Army and Navy will be in readiness by July 1st 1952. Air Force is only service which is deficient. This is caused by shortage of materials and machine tools.

The agricultural prospects for this year are good in Western Europe. Has just returned from tour of seven countries in Europe.
