Asked Labor to give report on Dept problems.
Had complaint re Civil Service
Will ask Dawson to work it out.
It is too early to take a position on the merits or demerits of the Taft-
Hartley Act. It will be end of April before we know.
It is not possible to apply an annual wage to industry across the board.
It can be applied in certain industries but not in all. It just will not
With respect to minimum wage will take position on amendments with respect
to particular fields - will favor some will not approve others in testimony
before Congress committees.
Send list to Cabinet members so they will know Govt. position.
(1) Asked Harriman to coordinate price program for Congressional hearings.
(2) Loyalty program should be handled on the basis of facts not suspicions.
Does not want it to be degenerated into the fiasco that is the House Un-
American Activities Committee.
