Rear Platform and Other Informal Remarks in Nevada and California

On September 22, 1948 at 9:15 A.M., Harry Truman spoke to the people of Nevada praising them for their interest in the current issues of the day. He explained that the Democratic party was interested in the welfare of the people as a whole. He expressed his feelings on the privilege to vote. He encouraged them not to make the same mistake they did in 1946 when 1/3 of voters elected a Republican Congress. He concluded by thanking them for their time and asking the people Nevada to vote for him.

Harry S. Truman stated that he and the Democratic party very much supported western expansion. He wanted the people in these western valleys to get energy at the same cost as the government used to pull the energy from the dams. He wanted people to use the right of ballet, and to vote for Truman on election day.

President Truman traveled across the country in 1948 to support his election campaign . On September 22, Truman stopped in San Francisco, California. In his speech, Truman mostly talked about the United Nations he had started less than a year before. Truman said that the United Nations was preventing other countries from going to war plus trying to get the world back to normal after World War II.
