John J. Bennett, Deputy Mayor of New York, officiates at the opening of a class for first voters, held one evening each week at the Women's Division of the Democratic National Committee, Hotel Biltmore, New York. Also shown are, left to right, Judith H. Methven and Rosalie Smiley, both first voters, and Councilwoman Bertha Schwartz, one of the instructors.
