ROAMING ENTERTAINERS ADD FAMILY FUN TO MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
AT THE TRUMAN PRESIDENTIAL MUSEUM & LIBRARY

Independence, MO - May 22, 2001 - The Truman Presidential Museum & Library is hosting a weekend of fun and entertainment for the entire family to celebrate the Memorial Day holiday. All ages are welcome to enjoy a stilt-walking Uncle Sam, a caricature artist, a living Statue of Liberty and a balloon artist. The events will begin on Saturday, May 26, at 10:00 am and will continue until 3:00 pm. They will resume on Sunday, May 27, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The entertainers will also perform the first two weekends in June. On Saturday, May 26, at 10:00 am, kids and adults alike can get a peek into Truman's World War I footlocker. Plus, throughout the summer, visitors can have their pictures taken on the back of Truman's Whistlestop train.
The Truman Presidential Museum & Library is also pleased to announce that the Smithsonian Institution's "Portraits of the Presidents" exhibit will be on display through Monday, May 28. The temporary exhibit was originally scheduled to close last weekend but was held over due to public demand.
The Truman Presidential Museum & Library is located at U.S. Highway 24 and Delaware Street in Independence, Missouri. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. The Museum is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
