Description

This film covers President Truman's 1947 trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Includes President Truman's departure from National Airport on August 31, his arrival at Rio de Janeiro on September 1, and his return to Washington, D.C. on September 20, on board the yacht Williamsburg. It features many of President Truman's ceremonial and social activities, including his entertainment of President Dutra and other participants in the Quitandinha Conference, aboard the battleship USS Missouri. This is a color version of MP76-39.

3:09   Plane lands at Waller Field, Trinidad at 4:50 p.m. The President is greeted by his Excellency the Governor, Sir John Snow.
4:47   Truman reviews troops, scenes at airport.
5:41   Sept. 1. Arrival at Pan American air terminal, Belem, Brazil. Arrived at 8:24 a.m.
6:46   Scenes in flight over Brazil, showing various passengers and shots out the window of the jungles, mountains, etc.

9:52   Practice firing of guns.
11:28   Sept. 19. Missouri approaches Norfolk. Truman family and aids on deck.
