Messages to the National Press Photographer's Association from Mayor H. Roe Bartle of Kansas City and former President Harry S. Truman to ask them to hold their 1958 convention in Kansas City; Harry and Bess Truman at a display of Winston Churchill's paintings at the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum in Kansas City; the dedication of Truman Corners in Grandview, Missouri; a Truman press conference on the November 8, 1958 election; Jack Benny's arrival to play with the Kansas City Symphony; and funeral services for Governor and Mrs. James T. Blair at the Missouri Capitol in 1962.

00:00   Sound footage: Mayor Roe Bartle of Kansas City films a message to the National Press Photographers Association on the advent of their national convention in Washington, D.C. He introduces Pat Callahan, who is Miss Press Photographer of Kansas City and will compete in a beauty contest at the convention. He gives Callahan the key to the city to present to the president of the Association with an invitation to bring the convention to Kansas City the following year. He then introduces Harry S. Truman.
01:42   Sound footage: A second take of the same scene with Bartle and Callahan.
03:15   Sound footage: Truman sits at a desk spread with books, photos, and other paraphernalia. He also films a message for the National Press Photographers Association, which is essentially a pitch for Kansas City to host their 1958 convention. He invites the photographers to see his soon-to-be-opened Truman Library and offers a personal tour.
05:53   Harry S. Truman and Mrs. Truman view a gallery display of Winston Churchill’s paintings at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
06:28   The Truman family, including Harry and Bess Truman, Mary Jane Truman, and Mr. J. Vivian Truman, attend the dedication of Truman Corners on Sept. 12, 1957. A box full of mementos is placed in the cornerstone, and the Truman family’s plaque is unveiled. Harry S. Truman makes remarks to the crowd.
08:42   Close-up on a sign, which reads: “Independence, the Home of Harry S. Truman, 33rd President of the United States.” Harry S. Truman stands near train tracks and watches as a train pulls into the depot. Others see off Harry and Bess Truman they leave Independence by train to spend Christmas in New York with Daniel family in 1957.
09:27   Sound footage: Harry S. Truman sits at a desk and answers questions from a journalist. Between each question there is a pause while the screen goes black for a moment. Truman discusses his reactions to the Nov. 8, 1958 election of Governor Robert Docking. At the end of the interview, Truman holds up three issues of the Topeka Daily Capital newspaper with headlines from Docking’s campaign: “Docking’s Lead Slight,” “Docking’s Lead Mounts,” and “Docking Wins 2nd Term.”
11:12   Harry S. Truman arrives at the Kansas City Airport where he is met by Mayor Roe Bartle, Randall Jessee and others. Many press members are on the tarmac. Next follows footage of Truman being positioned in front of cameras and microphones to give a statement outside of a building.
12:26   Close-up on a sign mounted on a car door which reads, “Kansas City Welcomes Jack Benny.” This introduces scenes of Jack Benny (who came for a benefit show for the KC Philharmonic) arriving at the Kansas City airport, where he is greeted by Truman and others. Benny rides in a Maxwell as part of a parade of old cars. Truman stands next to the antique car and has a conversation with Benny before the parade leaves.

13:54   Members of the press walk with Harry S. Truman to Memorial Building in Independence, MO. Truman stands in front of a voting booth and makes comments before moving outside to shake hands and pose for photos. Truman and the reporters then walk back to Truman’s house. Truman leaves the reporters at the gate to his yard.
15:42   Harry S. Truman has a meeting with a large group of nicely dressed women at Truman Library. He shakes hands with each woman as they exit the office.
16:23   A shot of a flag flying at half-mast begins footage of Harry S. Truman and other state officials at the funeral services for Gov. and Mrs. James T.Blair at Jefferson City, MO in 1962. Scenes include an aerial shot of the Missouri Capitol, the services held at the First Presbyterian Church, groups of mourners, etc.
