Harry S. Truman discusses his discovery that the Russians did not keep their agreements. He comments that Stalin “broke 16 agreements that were made at Yalta and 32 that were made at Potsdam. He never kept a single one of them.” Sound only.

0:25   Harry S. Truman discusses his discovery that the Russians did not keep their agreements. He recalls that Queen Victoria said she wished she were a man. She would go to Russia and give them a "going over" to get them to keep their agreements. Mr. Truman notes that it was customary for the Russians to break their agreements.
1:16   Mr. Truman states: "We all thought that the Bolsheviks might be more reliable when they took control …but they turned out to be less reliable."
1:27   Mr. Truman states he finally got things in order so he could go to Potsdam. He describes how he stayed at a house called the "White House," but it was really yellow. "We went to work and did the best we possibly could."
1:54   Harry S. Truman cites an incident at the conference dealing with the government of Poland. "It showed exactly how his mind ran. He (Stalin) had to be forced to keep any agreements that he kept."
2:21   Mr. Truman states that Stalin "broke 16 agreements that were made at Yalta and 32 that were made at Potsdam. He never kept a single one of them."
