Reel 1

0:00   Narrator begins by saying Harry S. Truman describes election night in 1948 at the Electoral College dinner (January 19, 1949). This sounds like narration from the television program, and includes a good recording of President Truman’s speech from that event, including the famous "Kaltenborn imitation."
0:29   Harry S. Truman speaks at the Electoral College dinner about election night: "I had my sandwich and a glass of buttermilk and went to bed about 6:30." He states he woke up about 12 o’clock and listened to National Broadcasting Company. Mr. Truman mimics commentator H. V. Kaltenborn (lots of laughter from audience.)
1:30   Harry S. Truman: "I went back to bed and went to sleep."
2:04   Harry S. Truman: "I called the Secret Service and said we’d better go back to Kansas City. It looks like I’m elected."
