Reel 1

00   The narrator (not Harry S. Truman) speaks of job offers to Mr. Truman after he left the presidency. When asked to play the piano with the president of the Musicians Union, James Petrillo, Mr. Truman thought they sounded like a Christmas show in an old soldiers home. The narrator discusses various job offers - all wanting to exploit use of the presidency, and asks, "Where do you go from the office of the President of the United States? One way - down."
00   Narrator discusses Truman's attempt to return to private life and to fit back into the community. He felt, however, that the current administration was undoing all that he had achieved.
15   Narrator claims the Republicans feared Truman's activism and tried to silence him. He cites attempt to convict Truman for tax evasion. Narrator states that neither the Republicans nor Truman himself could keep him out of politics. Mr. Truman considered the current administration indolent and incompetent.
58   Mr. Truman is described as being particularly critical of the current administration's handling of the Formosa situation and of the settlement terms in the Korean War truce. The Republicans had to shut him up.
29   Narrator says that a former president has been accused of treason.
