Reel 1

0:00   Unidentified voice says: "115 take 1 . . . 91."
This recording is the voice of Judge Albert A. Ridge, a friend and associate of Harry S. Truman, dating from Battery D. There are three separate sections in which Judge Ridge speaks, the interviewer is not heard.
Judge Ridge discusses Harry S. Truman’s personality. He gives a very positive view of Mr. Truman’s traits. Mr. Truman is willing to listen, to help out, to give confidence, to socialize. He had a sense of humility, nothing of self-exaltation. these qualities were exhibited in his dealing with members of Battery D, and throughout his life.
2:06   Judge Ridge states that Mr. Truman’s humility makes him unable to articulate things of a selfish nature. He has no desire for self-aggrandizement.
3:14   Judge Ridge states that his affection for Mr. Truman causes him to rank President Truman in the upper group of Presidents (he declines to give him a number).
