0:00   Harry S. Truman’s voice, questions by Ben Gradus. They discuss Mr. Truman’s early elections, especially the county court race for judge. “I never ran for a political office I really wanted.” The first election was Mr. Truman’s only defeat; then he went on to run for presiding judge.
2:00   Do you enjoy campaigning? Yes. Mr. Truman speaks of wanting to run for county collector’s job, but couldn’t, so he took was was available. Discusses run for the Senate in 1934. Mention of his opponents, John J. Cochran and Jacob L. “Tuck” Milligan. This research was probably used in the production of episode 1.
