    [Public Papers: Statement by the President on the Death of Senator Brien McMahon]
    KANSAS CITY AND INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI TRIP
9:00 am The President drove to Kansas City and proceeded to his
suite in the Muehlebach Hotel, where he visited with
old friends and political associates.
1:00 pm The President was joined for lunch by Tom Gavin.

After lunch the President took a nap before driving
back to Independence to spend the night.
