(Wrote to the President in early April, asking if he
might come down and discuss certain phases of defense situation.)
11:15 am (Congressman Richard Bolling, Missouri)
(Called Mr. Connelly last week to ask for this off-the-record
appointment)
11:30 am Honorable Claude Fuller, former Congressman from Arkansas
(Senator McClellan called Mr. Connelly last week to ask
if the President would see Fuller, who only wants to
pay respects; the Senator stated that Fuller's district
was one now held by Jim Trimble, and also mentioned
that Fuller is opposed to States Rights people in Arkansas.)
11:45 am Honorable C. V. Whitney, Under Secretary of Commerce
(Asked if might come in and say "goodbye".)
12:00 pm Honorable Robert Butler, American Ambassador to Cuba.
(Called Mr. Connelly last week to ask for this.)
12:15 pm Congressman Emanuel Celler, New York
(Called Mr. Connelly last week to ask for this appointment)
12:30 pm The Secretary of Defense [Louis Johnson]
(Usual weekly appointment)

3:15 pm Honorable Frank Pace, Secretary of the Army
Honorable Tracy S. Voorhees, Under Secretary of the Army
(Mr. Pace asked if they might come in as this is last
day Mr. Voorhees will be there.)
3:30 pm Admiral Forrest P. Sherman, Chief of Naval Operations
(One half Hour.)
4:00 pm Senator Harley M. Kilgore, West Virginia
