(Starts this Saturday on speech making tour and asked to
talk to the President before that)
11:45 am Honorable Joseph Flack, American Ambassador to Poland
(Newly appointed; had planned to leave for post earlier,
but waiting for the President's return from Pacific
trip, as State Department feels most important for
Ambassadors to satellite countries to be received
by the President before reporting at their posts)
12:00 pm H.E. C. D. B. King, the Ambassador of Liberia
Honorable Gabriel L. Dennis, the Secretary of State of Liberia
Honorable Christian Abayomi Cassell, the Attorney General of Liberia
Mr. Charles B. Sherman, an economist with Liberian Govt.
Honorable George Magee, Assistant Secretary of State
(This arranged at suggestion of Under Secretary Webb. They
are to discuss Military, Financial and Technical Aid for
Liberia.)
12:15 pm Honorable David Bruce, American Ambassador to France
(Mr. Webb asked that this be set up as the Department had
brought Mr. Bruce back for the conferences here with
French Ministers of Defense and Finance; that it was
first time Mr. Bruce had been in this country since
his appointment nearly two years ago. Mr. Acheson and
Mr. Webb thought the President would like to obtain the
complete French picture from Mr. Bruce)
