(George Killion asked the President to see. Howell is
publisher of Atlanta Constitution)
11:00 am Mr. de Lesseps S. Morrison
(Mayor-elect of New Orleans - Paul Wooton, Washington
correspondent of Times-Picayune requested the appoint-
ment. Wooton says this paper feels it had quite a hand
in election of Morrison, and Wooton further stated he
felt Morrison was man "who is certain to play an
important part in public affairs in Louisiana)
11:15 am Mr. Albert S. Goss, Master, National Grange
(Mr. Goss's original wire to the President and the Presi-
dent's reply, saying he would talk to him, attached, as well
as later wire from Goss on appointment of a Secretary of Interior)
11:30 am Hon. R. G. Casey
(Retiring Governor of Bengal - the Australian Minister
requested this appointment as Casey to be in Washington
Feb. 22nd to 27th) Casey first Australian Minister to the
U.S., and since has been Minister of State in Middle East
and a member of British War Cabinet)
12:00 pm Mr. Earl Russell
(Cong. Cole of Missouri asked the President see Russell,
saying Russell served in the National Guard with the
President and is now here in Treasury Dept)
12:30 pm (Mr. Walter Reuther - off record)
