Truman Foreign Language Lesson

Intended for 8th grade Spanish/French Language Class

In one or two parts of 45 minute periods

Objective: Students will use language skills (including current vocabulary on family and relations, likes, dislike, names, pastimes etc.) to describe pictures and documents from Harry S Truman from the website www.trumanlibrary.org. It’s a great way to review vocabulary and phrases for beginning language students.

Summary of lesson: either using individual computers in a laboratory setting, or projection for class use, ask students questions about pictures that target their vocabulary. Ask questions in the target language. Students answer in the target language. Variation could include the students writing their answer first and then reading it aloud (to reinforce both written and oral language skills). Examples of questions include:
