| Return to Truman's Letters to Margaret Folder |
June 17, 1935 My Dear Margaret: I have been listening to the "king fish" make a talk on the bill to give old people pensions, and laboring people insurance. There was a time limit set so he could only talk for forty five minutes. Nettie called me up today and asked how Margaret and her mother were getting along. I told her that I was very sure you are both all right. She asked me to tell you hello! I hope you are having a nice time, but your daddy sure misses you! When I went to our appartment las t night I was sure I could hear you talking to me several times and I hoped I'd find you were there, but you weren't. You must take good care of your mother and not let her do things for you that you can do for yourself. Be a good girl and practice ever yday on the piano. I listened to you play when we got home and I think you have musical talent. That means that you should work harder than ever to develop it. Lazy people never get anywhere in anything. I shall expect to have a letter from you at lea st once a week telling me what you are doing and how the baby is and how your grandmothers are getting along. Kiss your mamma for me and take several for yourself. Your lovingDad |
