Truman began wearing glasses at a very young age. Because he had glasses and his parents could not afford a new pair if he broke his, Truman could not play sports or other physical activities with his friends. Instead he concentrated on his studies and reading. In 1901, Truman graduated from high school. He wanted to go to military school at Annapolis or West Point but he was rejected because of his eye sight. |
