In 1976, Margaret Truman wrote a book entitled "Women of Courage", which presents 12 profiles of women in American History. She also wrote"Souvenir", an autobiography of her early life and her years in the White House. In addition, she wrote a biography of each of her parents: "Harry S. Truman" and "Bess W. Truman". She also followed her mother's interest in mysteries and wrote a series of murder mysteries each one based at a famous site in Washington D.C.
