Taking Care of His Health

Truman showed responsibility for himself and his family's health by expressing his feelings against smoking cigarettes. In a letter that stated that the Kansas City Star had quoted him as smoking a cigarette, he wrote a comment on it saying that he never smoked in his life. He also wrote a letter to his daughter, Margaret , on July 20,1932, saying," I surely want you to be as good as the best in everything you undertake except for smoking cigarettes, and I hope you'll never do that."
