Harry's Poor Eyesight

When Harry was little he went to the 4th of July fireworks. He could hear the fireworks but couldn't see them. The next day his mother took him to an eye doctor. The problem was he had myopia which means he had flat eyes.

His glasses were very thick, expensive, and fragile. Not very many children had glasses back then but his mother forced him to wear them. Harry was ordered by the doctor not to play sports or any rough games. So he wore the glasses and didn't play sports. See a picture of Truman wearing his glasses at the age of about 13 years.
