February 14, 1999

We were e-mailed from CA from a man who was 10, when President Truman decided to end WWII by allowing the first atomic bomb to be dropped on Japan. He remembers the day the news hit this country. He said there were newsboys walking through residential neighborhoods selling newspapers with the story. That had never been done before, but this was very important to the world. Not long afterward, the Japanese surrendered on the deck of the Battleship Missouri and he said our state is rightly proud of that. He said this showed the strong leader he was. He knew something had to be done to stop the loss of lives. He did what he thought was right..
