The Tractor

The tractor was invented in 1902 by Dan Albone. It benefitted people by making farming easier and faster. It worked by one engine-driven hydraulic pump and cylinder which provided the power for the tractor to move. This invention was used by Harry S. Truman when he was a farmer in Grandview, Missouri. An interesting fact about the first tractor is that the farmer had to stand on a platform. The first tractor had big wheels.

This is a picture of Truman riding a horse drawn cultivator on his Grandview farm. We do not have any tractor pictures of Harry in the archives.
