The Invention of Glasses

Glasses were invented in 1352 to improve eyesight. Before that time the Chinese wore them to look good. But not many people wore them because they were expensive. Benjamin Franklin improved them when he invented the bifocal lenses in 1784.

Harry Truman had poor eyesight. Harry's mom did not notice this problem until he was 5 years old. Harry started wearing glasses in the first grade and continued for the rest of his life.
