Interview : Thoughts on Truman

Questions were asked of my grandfather who lived during Truman's lifetime. In the election of 1948, grandfather voted for Harry S. Truman. One of the most important things that my grandfather felt Truman did was the ending of the war in the Pacific. My grandfather met Harry Truman and found that he was like an ordinary citizen. He had learned life the hard way and the ordinary American could relate to this.

Some of the best things that my grandfather thought Truman accomplished was the Marshall Plan and the Social Security programs. For several years the Social Security programs have helped people live independently after retirement or illness. The programs Harry Truman initiated 50 years ago continue to enrich the life of the American people today.
