The Many Jobs of Harry Truman

When Harry Truman was young he had several jobs. He worked at the Clinton Drug Store in Independence, at a newspaper and as a construction site time keeper. He also worked at the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad. He was a clerk, a bookkeeper and worked at several banks. He also owned and operated a haberdashery.

When Harry moved to Grandview, Missouri, he had to work very hard on the farm. He plowed, sowed, milked cows, fed the hogs and baled hay.

When Harry ran for public office he did not win every election, but was elected to the United States Senate. Harry was nominated for vice-president and when Franklin D. Roosevelt died, Harry became President of the United States. Harry was elected to another term as president in the election of 1948.

Harry Truman had many jobs in his lifetime, but his favorite was being a husband and a loving father.
