Captain Harry S. Truman and Battery D

In 1918 after Harry had been in the army for awhile, he became captain of a group of men called Battery D. The men came to idolize Harry as their commander and their friend. After World War I ended, the men of Battery D held yearly reunions. In 1949, Harry invited them to come to his inauguration. Harry enjoyed being part of Battery D because of the friendships he made and kept over the years.
