The Marriage of Harry and Bess

Harry met Bess Wallace when they were five and six years old. They were in the same graduating class, but did not "date" then. About ten years after graduation they started "dating" each other. They had plans to get married, but they decided to put off the marriage until Harry was back from fighting in World War I.

They got married on June 28, 1919 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Independence, Missouri. They lived in Independence after Truman left political office. Harry and Bess enjoyed many happy years as man and wife. They were married for 53 years.
