In June 1950 North Korea invaded South Korea. President Truman sent United States troops to help South Korea. General Douglas MacArthur, a five star general and hero of WWII, was in head command. Later the Chinese became an ally of North Korea. They sent roops to help fight. Many citizens who lived nearby were afraid the war was going to spread. General MacArthur wanted to take the war to the Chinese Mainland. President Truman disagreed and stripped him from command. Many people disagreed wi th the President Truman, though, was sure that no military person should make United States policy. That job was his!!
