The speech was given from the train's rear platform. Harry S. Truman discussed how great the hospitiality was from all of Texas on this glorious morning. He also talked about how the government should not and how it could not fall into the hands of any repulbican. He was obviously very much a Democrat. He felt that the welfare of this beautiful and respectable country is much safer in the hands of the democrats. Nearing the end of his speech, he encouraged everyone to vote. he cloase by thanking the great sate of Texas for their kindness and hospitality. he also thanked everyone for waking up early and coming to his speech.

In 1948, Harry S. Truman ran for President against Governor Thomsa Dewey. In Truman's campaign, he went all over the country giving speeches from the back of trains. Gainsville was his last stop in Texas. In his Gainsville speech, Truman praised the Texans for their hospitality and thanked them for such a nice stay in Texas. Truman also warned the people about the 80th Congress. The 80th Congress was run by Republicans so Truman told the people of Texas to vote for Democratic candidates on the entire ballot.

The speech that Harry S. Truman gave in Ardmore, Oklahoma can be summarized as follows. He spoke to the citizens of Ardmore about his campaign and what to expect from him. First he started his speech by telling the people about inflation and its toll on the country and the people. Next he went on to tell the people of Ardmore that he had their best interests at heart and that he felt the same way about everybody in the country. After that, Mr. Truman told about local affairs in and about Ardmore, plus the whole state of Oklahoma. Finally the hopeful Democratic candidate concluded his speech by saying to vote for him and he knew he could count on their votes, so he could make it all the way to the White House.
