He also conducts a radio broadcast on Democratic Women's Day. The recording was made on his campaign train on September 23 but broadcasted the afternoon of September 27.
Remarks Recorded on the Broadcast for Women's Day Spoken By: Harry S. Truman September 27, 1948
On September 27,1948, Mr. Harry S. Truman gave an excellent speech. This speech was pointed in the direction of women. Truman wanted them to know that he too cared about family and education. Mr. Truman pointed out that women had a million and a half more votes than men, and he wanted them to exercise their right. Truman also said how the Republicans were not doing a good enough job for the "The American Family", or education. Truman showed his genuine appreciation for President Wilson, because he gave women the right to vote. Mr. Truman also showed how he appreciated Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt for setting aside a special day to commemorate the admission of women to the Executive Committee, of the Democratic National Committee. Harry S. Truman wanted women to vote for him for the safety of their families and their children's future education. Mr. Truman spoke these words to encourage women to use their right to vote and to vote for him.

Ideas that are included in Truman's speech were: Texas is one of the greatest agricultural states. The interest of the people is to see that the farmers are well protected. The people of Texas need to decide whether or not to go back to the conditions where the farmer is under the twelve year Republican Rule. One hundred twenty three thousand farmers were forced to move off their farms, because they couldn't pay the interest on their mortgages. People need to decide whether they Georgetown want to continue under an administration which has created the greatest wealth for the farmers have ever had in the history of the country.
Republicans are trying to destroy this program and go back to the old ways. Congress should be known by its good leadership. There is a large number of good Democrats, and a few good Republicans.
Truman says: "I am asking you only to vote for your own interests. I'm asking you not only to vote for me , but for the senators and congressman. I'm asking you to vote for yourselves. Vote for your best interests."

Greenville, Texas (6:20 P.M.)
Greenville is the first Texas town Truman ever saw....at the age of nine.
Truman comments that Sam Rayburn (who was running for Speaker of the House) said that Greenville is really the heart of Texas. Truman said if you stick to Texas when it's dry, it will stick to you when its wet. His remarks focus on the fact that Greenville's economy depends on the farmer. In 1932, Roosevelt inaugurated a farm policy that put the farmer on his feet.
In 1946, when the farmers didn't vote, they got the do-nothing Republican 80th Congress who cut the ground from under the farmer. Truman said if they'd vote for him, it'd be in their own best interests to fix the plight of the farmer.

In this short speech, Truman is very supportive of Speaker Sam Rayburn and his bid for reelection. He invites the crowd to Bonham where he will be giving a longer speech at the high school stadium.
