At 10:00 a.m., President Truman held a conference with his staff where they discussed the successes of his most recent trip through the Midwest to St. Paul. They debated why the President's crowds at his campaign stops were growing yet the polls revealed a low chance of him actually winning. At 11:00 a.m., Truman met with the Honorable Paul Hoffman, and the Economic Cooperation Administrator.

It was President Truman's first full day back in Washington after his return from the Midwest the Saturday before. At ten o'clock that morning, he attended a staff conference in the office with most of the members of the staff, and in addition, Jonathan Daniels, and David Noyes. They discussed the Midwest trip and agreed that the reactions were favorable. It appeared that crowds became more enthusiastic which gave hope to the president.
