FAQ: Where is the U.S.S. Missouri now? Can you visit it and go aboard?

The U.S.S. Missouri is currently located in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. It is docked at Ford Island and is open for tours daily, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For current ticket information and an in-depth history of the U.S.S. Missouri, refer to the U.S.S. Missouri Memorial Association website.

  • Built at the New York Naval Shipyard (Brooklyn, NewYork)
  • Keel was laid on January 16, 1941
  • Launched on January 29, 1944 (by Margaret Truman)
  • Commissioned on June 11, 1944
  • Left San Francicso Bay for WWII duty on December 14, 1944
  • Peace Treaty ending WWII signed on board in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945
  • Decommissioned on February 26, 1955
  • Recommissioned on May 10, 1986
  • Decommissioned again on March 31, 1992
  • Arrived in Pearl Harbor on June 22, 1998
  • Battleship Missouri Memorial and Museum opened on January 29, 1999
