President and Mrs. Truman both chose to be buried at the Library. Mr. Truman was buried on December 28, 1972. Mrs. Truman died on October 18, 1982 and is buried next to Mr. Truman in the courtyard.

The Harry S. Truman Library and Museum is one of thirteen Presidential Libraries administered by the National Archives and Records Administration.
