Truman Places

Independence | Grandview | Kansas City

This site contains maps of the Greater Kansas City area listing many of the places Harry S. Truman lived, went to school, worked, met with people, ate, had fun, and invested his money. The places where he and members of his family are buried are also listed. The descriptions of the places draw on Truman's memoirs and historical documents and oral history interviews from the holdings of the Truman Library to reveal Truman as a person. Greater Kansas City was built into Truman's fabric as a human being, and he in turn became an important part of Kansas City's sense of itself.
