"Hope to see you Monday at six-thirty on the Missouri Pacific," Truman wrote to Bess on December 15, 1939. He was a U.S. Senator at this time, and he was coming home for Christmas. Truman used this station frequently during the years he was commuting between Washington, DC and Independence.

The Missouri Pacific Railroad Station is located at 600 South Grand Street.

In the photograph on the bottom left, Truman greets the crowd on January 21, 1953, the night he returned to Independence after finishing his two terms as President of the United States. The photograph on the bottom right shows Truman at the Missouri Pacific Depot sometime in the 1950s.
