Memorial Building

Truman oversaw the dedication of the Memorial Building on July 4, 1926. This was Harry and Bess Truman's regular voting place. Truman's only presidential press conference that he held in Independence occurred here on June 27, 1945. A large collection of his presidential papers were stored here from 1954 to 1957.
