Belton
Lodge 450,
Ancient Free and Accepted Masons
Truman
petitioned for membership in the Belton Masonic Lodge in December 1908.
He was accepted soon after and quickly passed through the different degrees
of membership. "My Masonic career has been helpful in teaching me
to get along with people," Truman wrote late in life, "has caused
me to become more familiar with the Bible[,] and inspired me to read a
great deal of history." (Undated handwritten manuscript.)
The Belton
Masonic Lodge 450 sits at the northwest corner of Ella and Main Streets
in Belton, Missouri.
