The State Dining Room was one of
the only rooms in the White House where the original woodwork was saved
and reinstalled during the renovation. As this photograph from December
8, 1952 shows, though, the previously dark paneling was repainted a lighter
green color. |

Dining Room, dating from 1902, was replaced by this simple dark marble fireplace
