Log of President Truman's Eighth Visit to Key West,
Florida, 12 March-10 April 1950. |
Summary: One of the ways that
President Truman and his fellow vacationers entertained themselves in the
evenings included watching movies. Since the VCR did not exist then, and
since Truman was the President, they were able to watch relatively new
movies from the privacy of the Little White House. They were provided
with a variety of movies-mysteries such as The Third Man, comedies
such as Love Happy with the Marx Brothers, dramas such as Twelve O’Clock
High, and even animated features like Cinderella. While Truman did not
often watch the movies, on this particular trip he watched Cheaper by the
Dozen, a comedy with Myrna Loy, and Champagne for Caesar, a comedy based on
the popular TV quiz shows.
